Frequently Asked Questions

This page is in development and we will add in the answers to more frequently asked questions so do revisit or let your Council know if there is a general question that you would like us to answer here.

How long will it take for my housing register application to be assessed once it has been submitted?

This will vary from Council to Council but it usually takes within the region of 4 to 10 weeks. This is due to the very high volume of applications each Council receives and the need to ensure that a thorough assessment of each application is completed.

Why does my place on a shortlist change after a property advert has closed?

Your position on the shortlist will change once the property advert has closed as we have a number of applicants that are set up for auto bidding which means that the bids are automatically placed on a property just after the advert closes.

Why does it say that a property 'shortlist is still being processed' when the property advert closed weeks or months ago?

Properties are offered to the successful applicant as quickly as possible to minimise our void times, however the results do not appear on the public website until the landlord has updated the system to say that the applicant has accepted the property along with their tenancy start date.

When will I know if my bid has been successful?

If you are successful with your bid on a property, you will be contacted directly by the housing provider. The call may not be immediate if the property is currently undergoing work so you may need to be patient.

How can I check if the documents and messages that I have sent have been received?:

If you login to your portal, there is a section called 'actions' at the top with two ticks next to it, if you click on this section you will be able to see a list of the documents and messages that you have sent along with the status of the action.

How can I find out which documents I still need to upload?

If you login to your portal, there is a section called 'actions' at the top with two ticks next to it, if you click on this section, any requests for information that have not been sent to us yet will say 'view and complete'.
